How To Ruin Your Career Before It Starts

I am a member of Backstage.com, which is both a sight that you can apply to auditions from, but is also a resource for building your acting career. I often read articles to get advice on acting and auditioning and this one hit me. You can be one of the most talented people in the audition room, but if you bring an attitude you’re doomed. Theater is a small world and people don't have to cast you. If you have a reputation for being difficult to work with, you will not work, or at least not much. The same can be said in any job setting, but theater is very person and who wants to share their art or waste their time with someone who is difficult, especially when there are so many people who bring a great energy to the table? Also, watch your social media. More and more people who hire are looking you up on Facebook, Twitter, Linked in, ect. Be sure they don't see anything you want to keep to yourself. I have a separate page for my acting profile and personal life. Separation doesn’t always work though. Feel free to read the full article and let me know what you think!
